FESTIVAL PREVIEW: WHO TO SEE AT C2C COUNTRY TO COUNTRY 2024 - ANGEL WHITE

The outer stages of C2C always throw up some interesting characters and one that immediately caught the attention of #TEAMw21 was Angel White. With only 4 singles to his name there is little to be found out about Angel - he's is a fifth generation Texas native & singer/songwriter, - what attracted us was the quality of those singles.

Possessing a a smooth yet plaintive voice "If You're Gonna Leave" was our first encounter. It immediately thrusts you into a quite dramatic situation

" If you're gonna leave me now

Throw my hat on the ground

I don't even know without

My heart strings are all stretched out"

"Red Blanket" opens to a humming and is another song that grabs you from the start, one that makes you stop and want to replay to make sure you heard correctly

"And I don't have the answers

Where we go int he end or who else we might be

She was a prisoner to the cancer

So I'm still sleeping with the red blanket"

Angel has a talent of making eminently listenable songs - it's hard to fine fault with any of them - they emotionally engage you and musically they equally grab you.

One song that breaks the run of smoothness is "Long Way Up" which has a great funky groove to hit with a fantastic keyboard sound matched to a funky bass. Angel's previously totally smooth timbre is equally at ease rocking out.

Undoubtedly one to check to see what else he has up his sleeve, it seems certain that Angel White is going to leave London next weekend with a whole host of new admirers on the back of what we've hear so far.
