Rather worryingly it seemed like only yesterday #TEAMw21 were watching a promising newcomer on the block, poised for big things. She was the opening act at Lucy May's launch for her second album and popped up in various other support slots.
That emerging talent was Rebecca Jayne, somehow she slipped off the #TEAMw21 radar, however we are pleased to announce that not only is she back - but she's brought the sunshine with her.
With a cover showing a young girl running barefoot though a field of flowers, heading towards the warm rays of the sun, this song exudes summer from the very opening bars, where a bright and breezy guitar over the lightest of percussion catches the mood perfectly.
There's a relaxed carefree attitude to Rebecca's vocals that more than matches the exuberance of the tune.
"Got no worries in my mind - my fears are far behind
I got some people I love,
You know the sun is shining bright, makes pretty patterns with the light
And I feel like I'm on fire and I don't mind taking my sweet time"
The chorus is just the title repeatedly sung in the most uplifting way
"Following the sunshine"
The second verse keeps the upbeat vibe going, via making the most "of the moment", references
"I read my horoscope today, and it told me I'm okay
As long as I don't cross a stranger
And I ain't seen anyone, no Fed Ex guys or Amazon,
So I don't thing that I'm in danger
And I don't care if I'm going nowhere"
There's time for the most muted of trumpet solos
"There behind that mountain range
She disappears into the velvet night
And all the stars come out to play
Until it's time to for her to rise and shine again"
There's a lovely little pause between "Shine" and "Again" which can't help but bring a smile.
The rest of the tune sees Rebecca repeating the title.
It is absolute unbridled good fun and should be released in time to see temperatures soar again. What a great way to return to recording duty.
