A first sighting for #TEAMw21 of Sheffield based singer, Kaviani who with just a guitar and voice is able create a believable world on "The Real You". This sort of song is normally the preserve of our American cousins who then go ridiculously over the top with wimpy praise which is why we rarely ever cover them - however Kaviani has something about him worth sticking with.
The guitar playing sets the mood it's calm relaxed,in a sort of Tracey Chapman style to give you an idea of the scene being set. Kaviani has a silky smooth laid back soulful voice perfectly suited for such a backing.
"You've been turning every head
Since you walked into this bar
There's not a man in this room, who
Doesn't know where you are"
The chorus sees Kaviani take the song off in a completely different direction, it's not necessarily the Goddess in her finery that he wants to get know, but the person beneath.
"I want to see you on a Sunday morning
Sweatshirt, sleeping in, wearing no make up
If this is love we're falling into
Well I wanna see the real you"
The second verse only enforces things further of his yearning to want get to know her better
"We've been going back and forth for a while baby you and I
I've been falling for you more every Saturday"
The only additional sound on the single is an electric guitar solo that fits in perfectly.
There's no percussion, no effects it is a model of purity and simplicity matched to lyrics that follow the same ethos that go to make a warm captivating three and a half minutes.
