ASHTON BUTLER - ONE MORE WON'T HURT

Having visited Nashville a few times and seen the number of acts slaving away on the strip for little reward and recognition, here at #TEAMw21 we'd like to shine the light on a Nashville underdog, an independent artist, Ashton Butler. He's gone to the effort of raising $3000 to fund the recording of his new single "One More Won't Hurt" and it would be a terrible waste to let its release go past without mentioning just how damn good it is. Gloriously in your face from the very start with electric guitar riffs swiftly followed by a bombastic drum beat.

The scene immediately sets itself, it's a bar it's the end of the night, and you've caught the gaze of someone and seem to make a connection.

"Last calls calling

But I ain’t ready to to go

Cover bands playin

You’re across the bar stealin' the show

We lock eyes under neon lights

Ain’t no use in drinkin' alone

I’ll pull up a stool yeah right next to you

I’m thinking I already know"

There's a nice little pause before a succession of drum beats power us into the chorus, which perfectly lays out that late state of mind thinking. It's an all or nothing decision - what's the worst that could happen?

"We might be hungover tomorrow

But headaches they go way

I’ll stay here for another round with you

Girl for a chance you'll stay

Till closing time

(Right) By my side

Yeah Girl what ever it takes

Just for tonight

Let’s feel that whiskey burn

One more won’t hurt"

It is fast and furious

The second verse takes things a little further

"The lights come on

and you lean in a little bit closer

Wouldn’t have been reckless

Then I read your number on my coaster

In the morning I might be payin the price

For this top shelf

get to know you tab tonight

Sittin here with you

baby it’s worth it"

Electrifying guitar solos lead to one more take on the chorus on this punchy little single that deserves its day in the sun.

All in all $3000 well spent, and by the sound of it the whiskey was not a bad investment either!.
