SINGLE REVIEW: SHELTER MUSIC - THUNDERSTORM ARTIS FEAT. FAITH ARTIS - HOUSE OF GOD

The UK is used to having thunderstorms but come this August at Country Calling, a Thunderstorm is coming, the likes of which they will have not witnessed before. That #TEAMw21 met Thunderstorm Artis at all required some divine intervention, his name was scheduled to play earlier in the night, but luck would place him in just the right place at the right time.
Just as we knew that Brooks Herring would cause a stir last year, #TEAMw21 cannot wait to see what Thunderstorm will deliver. Even his Facebook page has the stirring mission statement of "My goal in life is to inspire others through music"
Until then and more than living up to his goal, we have a new single "House Of God" featuring the vocals of his wife Faith and the additional musicians of Shelter - A community of musicians from B4Church and beyond based in Portland.
This is a live recording yet you'd be hard pressed to know that, but for the proof provided below, such is the musicianship on show. From the opening cello and piano, there is something special happening and whatever your faith or lack of, you cannot help but be touched by the wondrous sound created. Initially it seems to be just an acoustic guitar and a piano supporting Thunderstorm, yet gradually you become aware of tiny little additions to the overall sound.

The second verse see the instrumentation continue to build, and the joy on the faces of those performing is self evident. Thunderstorm is joined by wife Faith to make a most harmonious combination

With all of my struggles and all of my shame

This loving Father
Who calls me by name"
A section where the band all but fade, but for the piano and acoustic guitar really lets the soft raspy purity of Thunderstorm's voice shine through along with Faith and the assembled community. Truly stirring stuff.
