It seems outrageous that 2024 is the first time that Gasoline & Matches will have graced a C2C stage but we suspect that this is the last in a line of festivals that they have previously attended as punters that they will now get to play as artistes.
We've recommended going to see them at both Buckle & Boots & Long Road and both times they did not let us down so we may as well complete the set by saying go and see them at C2C!!!. Undoubtedly rewarded for their sterling efforts at their monthly Songwriters Round this run of shows will be richly deserved
Now a five piece when playing festivals they are the ultimate good time band guaranteed to get the party started. As with Emilia Quinn it is going to be interested when those unfamiliar with UK Americana come across Gasoline & Matches. who bow to none when it comes to putting on a show.
Expect the linguistic tour de force that is "Never Have I Ever" or the classic country pop that is "If You Wanna Stay", maybe the exquisite balladry of "Tequila's A Healer" or if Stephen takes over the lead mic the Americana sound of "Patient Wolves" and maybe a new tune or two.
Almost certainly there will be some shameful rock posing but most of all you will get 30 minutes of so of unadulterated enjoyment . Pound for pound one of the most bankable acts to deliver an entertaining set at a festival - you'd be foolish not to catch at least one of their shows.
