Timed perfectly to coincide with CMA Fest is the latest single by Stephanie Ryann, "Ain't Young Forever". She caught #TEAMw21's attention in Nashville with her song "Naked" and has steadfastly stayed on our watch list ever since with a cracking couple of singles.
Her latest takes her into slightly heavier territory musically, opens to big drum beats and an electric guitar riff, that is built to grab the attention, and will dominate the over sound throughout
The opening verse finds Stephanie in a reflective mood looking back on he formative years
"We were born with out hearts on fire
Running round wild on Goodyear tyres
Time way ahead of us never looking back
Living this life just a little off track"
She concludes
"We were rebels in a small town theme
Didn't want to settle for a half arsed dream"
Quite who Stephanie is addressing is never really made, it initially feels like it is towards someone from her home town but really she's sending a wake up call to all of us.
The chorus explodes into life as Stephanie ponders on the realities of time passing, reaching a pertinent conclusion. As ever it's the life in your years that matters, not the years in your life and there is never a better time than the present for doing things - so let's get going!.
"We can be forever young, but we ain't young forever
If we're going to have our fun, it'd better be now or never"
Her voice raises over the next few lines highlighting them even further
"Chasing that sun, setting too soon
Time's got a way, of stealing our youth
That's the speed of light but don't forget
Hold on tight, we ain't done yet"
The second verse has further lines of encouragement to take every opportunity that comes your way.
"Although the years keep taking their toll
Let's keep writing the soundtrack to our soul"
The other harsh reality of life is faced in the bridge, acting as further encouragement to live life to the full.
"No doubt when we reach the end, we can't press rewind
So let's live life while we can, while we can live this life"
Written by Stephanie and Stone Aielli and produced by Brent Rader who has been at the controls for all of this excellent run of singles, Stephanie Ryann continues to dazzle ans delight. As Stephanie says "This one’s for the dreamers, the wild hearts, the ones making every day count" - she certainly seems to be doing that.
