Morganway performing a cover is nothing particularly new, when #TEAMw21 first saw them at Buckle & Boots, they did a fine version of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain", while their devilishly dark version of "Jolene" dripped with menace in a way Dolly could only dream of, that made you fear for Jolene's life! The works of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Tom Petty have also received the Morganway live treatment over the years yet never have they felt the urge to record one - until now. Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club".
The introduction has a familiar Morganway sound, of prominent drums and fiddle however SJ when she arrives has a delightfully theatrical delivery, all clipped as if fresh out of RADA and placed into a period drama.
The lead into the chorus is pure Morganway with, Nicole's hand plucked fiddle and Ed's drumming giving the song a much greater depth of sound. When SJ declares "I'm just having fun, on the stage in my heels!" that pretty much sums things up. Replacing the synthy guitar of the original with the fiddle is a masterstroke, throughout. It was one of the songs from Country Calling that you could not help but come away from humming and we here at #TEAMw21 love it!.
