The first new recorded output from Kier in a while and this time she's brought a friend along in Rhiannon Paige for a fast paced highly entertaining ride.
It Is Rhiannon who introduces her vocal over a strummed guitar chord
"Don't ask me if I'm ok - cos I'm not"
With Kier taking the second line over a similar backing
"Don't ask when I last ate I forgot"
Together they then sing
"In fact don't ask me any questions, I'm just trying to do my best
To keep on keeping on with what I've got"
The band kick in, there's an upfront fast paced piece of percussion, a relatively faint guitar and not much else standing in the way the vocals. It's basic and raw yet within seconds it feels like it is going to be good fun.
Once again it is Rhiannon who starts the opening verse, with Kier adding in little asides in the background
"So don't talk about the future cos I won't
Don't ask me something serious and expect me not to joke
If I can't feel then I can't cry, if I don't live then I won't die
I'll just be chilling in the By & By"
While Kier takes the second with Rhiannon chipping with little parts.
"So I'll just keep on moving through the days
Lost in all the fog and all the haze
No destination just the ride,
Just floating around the great divide
No promises, no plans, no alibis
The choruses are upbeat in sound if slightly downbeat and pragmatic lyrically. It is a plea to be left alone and to be allowed to live as one likes.
"Am I broken? Just a little bit
All the long time that I just never spent
Don't need fixing, just room to breathe
Let me drift, let me be, let me find my peace"
The final part take us back to the opening phase where it was just simple guitar chords and vocals. Kier and Rhiannon's combine well to make a great sound and it just exudes the obvious fun that they had when recording it.
