Not as one of First Time Flyers recent social media posts said called "PrimDonna", which would be a totally different song, their new single is actually "Primadonna" and comes with something of a "You're So Vain" subplot, as the subject of the song remains a well kept secret.
With a debut album and UK tour to come, this is a timely release, and having seen them support The Shires and play recently at Country Calling they seem to be very much on the top of their game.
Opening to a mixture of banjo, guitars, vocals and a crisp punchy drum sound it is easy to see how this has become a firm fan favourite, offering Vicki and Poppy a chance to show off one of their routines when played live.
It's Vicki that opens up the first verse, the sound by now pared down to just a varying mix of percussion, which places the vocals at the forefront.
"Still here hoping you show up
But by now I know what you're going to say
This new life that you're living, I don't think I fit in
And you like it that way
Hate the games that you're playing
Excuses you're making again and again and again"
The lyrics clearly point to someone, who has fallen on good times and can no longer be relied on.
It all leads to that punchy chorus that opened the song, with the four voices coming together, that really reminds you that this is a band made up four highly talented performers in their own right, coming together to make one big sound.
"If you're gonna waste my time, gonna make me wait all night
Well you can say what you wanna, Primadonna, don't kill my vibe
Every time you cross the line, there's never any compromise
Well you can say what you wanna, Primadonna, don't waste my time"
It's Poppy that leads out on the second verse, as we find out more about this persons reaction to their elevated status
"You drive around in your fast car, thinking you're better than everyone else
Live your life on the high horse, just for a race, of course you bet on yourself"
A guitar solo is backed by the FTF adding a little rising chant behind it, before the sound once more fades for a final confrontational section
"Try to hide it, don't deny it
You decided that you think you're cooler than me
Same old story, getting boring
I can see the door and it's wide open for me
So watch me leave"
A final burst of the chorus brings everything to a close. Clocking in at barely over two and a half minutes, it uses each and every second to full effect to win the listener over and undoubtedly succeeds
First Time Flyers debut album 'Bound To Break', will be out September 12th.
