SINGLE REVIEW: HALLE KEARNS - HOMEMADE MARGARITAS

HALLE KEARNS - HOMEMADE MARGARITAS

Having wowed us at C2C 2024: it was back to business for Halle Kearns with the second single from her latest project that will land later in the summer. If the first single "High School Friends" showed her more serious side then "Homemade Margaritas" shows her kicking off her heels and having a damn fine time!

Even the cover, with Halle joyfully sat within a margarita glass just screams that this single is going to be fun and so it proves on what could prove to be one of the songs of the summer. It's short and snappy clocking in at under two and a half minutes but it makes full use of every second delivering smiles and making you excited to see what Halle might cook up for the accompanying video.

This is pure pop country from the opening salvo of acoustic, and electric guitars that signal the big drum beat to come in. Halle immediately sets about getting the summery vibe going

"Yeah, I know what you're thinking

You need that that tropical feeling

We don't have the money, honey, don't need a dime

For me and you to kill another Saturday night"

The writing is a delight and really does bring a summery smile to your face after what has been, in the UK at least a gloomy few months, and just listen to how the little embellishments from the guitarist and percussionist add to the overall sense of fun.

"Don't need a beach in Tijuana

Or a boat going down to the Bahamas

If we're gonna go postal

We don't need to go coastal

Every ingredient we need is right here - my dear!"

This is a good time song while remaining budget conscious - creating the sense of summer in the sun without actually leaving the house. It is now hard to listen to the chorus without smiling and recalling Halle trying to teach the C2C crowd to clap in the right places while still playing her guitar. It's just an unadulterated good time waiting to be had by all.

"Salt on the rim

Kitchen cabinet libations

All we been needing

Is a little staycation

Sunset through the pines

Little squeeze of the lime"

Over ice"

With a short searing guitar solo as well - this is most definitely a summer smash

Play Loud, Sip a cocktail and then Play Loud again!!!
