We caught up with one of our favourites CAM while on tour in the UK...........
#TEAMw21 - From our very first listen to “Down this Road” we have been massive fans of you and your music and knew you were going to be a star!! What has been your career highlight to date?
CAM - Honestly there are so many, but probably my absolute favourite thing is this new show format I do, part singing, part storytelling and part stand up comedy. It’s the most connected I’ve ever felt with my audiences and it’s the best feeling in the world.
#TEAMw21 - “Diane" is a massive country hit favourite here in the UK, one of the most requested songs at our shows, do you have a favourite song you love to perform?
CAM - Oh I loooooove singing "Diane". Also right now I love playing a couple of sneak peek songs off of the new album.
#TEAMw21 - Who was your inspiration growing up and what influenced you getting into music?
CAM - I didn’t know anyone in music, I didn’t think that was a real job, so I went into psychology research! But hearing music from really incredible women artists, like Joni Mitchell, the Indigo Girls, the Dixie Chicks and St Vincent, made me feel like others understood and there might be a place for my voice too.
#TEAMw21 - What songs are currently on your playlist, who do you like listening too?
CAM - Lover- Taylor Swift, Blue Roses- Runaway June, Gemini - Sam Williams, also I love the Priscilla Renea album "Coloured"
#TEAMw21 - You’ve covered many songs during your live performances, one of our favourites is “Uptown Funk” what’s your favourite song to cover?
CAM - Right now it is "La Marcheuse" by Christine and the Queens
#TEAMw21 - Whats your favourite venue you’ve played at or love playing at?
CAM - It has to be Red Rocks or the Ryman!
#TEAMw21 - You’ve just collaborated with Diplo on “So Long” that’s an exciting twist, what was that experience like?
CAM - Really fun stepping into a song that flirts with what “country” means. I helped finish the lyrics and they kept the production intimate, I love playing it live too.
#TEAMw21 - You’ve been over to the UK a few times now, have you got a favourite spot or place you like to visit when you come over?
CAM - I’ve loved everywhere so far- especially the people. The country community here is absolutely incredible.
#TEAMw21 - Whats next for you in the coming year and near future?
CAM - New music coming this year and a new album next year!
#TEAMw21 - We always end with this question, what’s your favourite restaurant in Nashville?
CAM - It used to be Treehouse, but the chef just left and is currently doing a pop up restaurant on weekends called “Set Sun”. I refuse to tell any US publications about it cause I don’t want it to get too crowded, so go and enjoy but don’t start tweeting about it haha.
