Country On The Coast Day 1 - Two Ways Home

Following directly on from Gasolene & Matches, there was a risk that we could have a direct duo comparison, in the end that was avoided by Two Ways Home bringing Michael Clancy as an extra guitarist for this performance. We remarked recently on just how much playing standing up changed their whole performing dynamic, well adding that additional guitarist took things to another level.

Songs like "Just For Now" received added impetus, as the sound filled out even more and you wondered why they don't do this more often. For "Don't Give Up On Me" which saw Isy move to singing holding the mic, having that additional guitarist made a substantial difference.

It's going to be a big year for Two Ways Home with their debut album due later in the year, and gradually over the last month or so we've started to get glimpses of some of the songs that might feature, "Speed Of Anything" is one such song, a Kaity Rae co-write, it came with neat snappy word interplay attached to a nifty chorus. Another of those new songs was "Vegas Wheel", which was a first listen for us for a song that sounded very strong even on first listen and came complete with its own electric guitar solo.

With Isy taking to mandolin, and Lewis hitting the stomp pedal to great effect, the closing run of songs was really strong, "Push and Pull" was followed by "2 Short Years" which saw the Lewis's stomp matched by the crowd's clapping. The electric guitar that announced the intro into "Best Part Of Me" signalled the start of the final song which came around far too soon, this was a high quality set from a team that are simply raising the respective bar higher with each outing.
